Penny Lynn Pierce Grube, of Axton, Virginia died Sunday, September 7, 2014 at her home. Penny had been in declining health for many years. She fought a good fight inspiring all who knew her.
A private celebration of her life will be held Thursday, September 11, 2014. The family will receive friends at the home of Emma and Lacy Hanes, Welcome-Arcadia Road, Lexington, NC from 4 to 7 PM Thursday, September 11, 2014,
Penny Lynn Pierce Grube (48) was born in Davidson County, NC on October 6, 1965 to John Raleigh Pierce and Zada Byerly Pierce. In her early years, Penny worked in the medical field as a CNA and moved on to a position as a Pool Tech with Recreation Therapy at Wake Forest Baptist Health. Penny was a member of Good Hope United Methodist Church, Lexington, NC. She loved her German Shepard’s, Shawnno, Amburg and Emma. Her yard, garden, flowering beds, potted plants, roses and her many wind chimes were a thing of beauty, displaying her endless hours of work and attention showing evidence of her love for God’s beauty and her love for the outdoors. Inside her home there was a display of photos speaking to the importance of family, friends and mankind; with each photo telling a story of which she treasured.
In addition to her parents, Penny was preceded in death by a brother, Timothy Hall Pierce and a sister, Casi “Janie” Pierce Hill.
Penny is survived by her husband, Mike Grube of the home, sisters, Bonnie (Charles) Brewer of Mocksville and Emma (Lacy) Hanes of Lexington; brother, Johnny Pierce of Winston-Salem; brother-in-law, Leroy Hill of Clemmons, aunt, Mae Eaton of Thomasville; mother-in-law, Danielle Hoffman of Neenah, WI; sisters-in-law, Shelly Olsen of Elkton, VA and Sue Conner of Appleton, WI; brother-in-law, Jim (Debbie) Grube of Elkton, VA; Godchildren, Katie, Randi and Cody Leonard of Lexington. Penny is also survived by many nieces and nephews of whom she spoiled and loved so very much.
