Percy Eugene Snyder Jr., 73, of Cole Road, went into the arms of his Master, Thursday, August 20, 2009, at Forsyth Medical Center after losing his recent battle with cancer.
The funeral will be 4 p.m. Sunday, August 23, 2009, at Advent Moravian Church, with the Revs. John D. Rights, Hulin Paite, and Pastor Steve Kiger officiating. Burial will follow in the church graveyard.
Mr. Snyder was born November 5, 1935, in Forsyth County to Percie Eugene Snyder Sr. and Nellie Cleo Shutt Snyder. He was a retired steel worker for R.J. Reynolds Tobacco, retired from Griffith Fire Department, and he was also a farmer. He was a member of Lick Creek Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Margaret Snyder Brann and Rita Snyder Hughes.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Sue Waller Snyder of the home; son, Percy Snyder III and wife, Jeanette, of Winston-Salem; daughter, Edna L. Snyder of Denton; grandchildren, Jessica E. Snyder and Benjamin P. Snyder; sister, Louise Demby and husband, J.W., of Winston-Salem; brothers, Robert “Bob” Snyder and wife, Virginia, of Winston-Salem, Frank “Rab” Snyder and wife, Mildred, of Advance, and Richard Snyder and wife, Alice, of Lexington; sister-in-law, Edna Morgan of Lexington; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Davidson Funeral Home Hickory Tree Chapel, and other times at the home of his son on Mendenhall Drive, Winston-Salem.
