Pete Chitty

Allen Eugene “Pete” Chitty 77 of Woods Lane, Winston-Salem, died Saturday, March 10, 2012 in Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center after a brief illness. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at Union Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Ken Harris, Rev. Dr. Harold Fletcher, and Rev. Dr.Virgil T. Chitty officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military Graveside Rites by Davidson County Honor Guard The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday, March 12, 2012 at Davidson Funeral Home-Hickory Tree Chapel and other times at the home. Mr. Chitty was born October 9, 1934 in Forsyth County to Luther Thaw Chitty and Mary Frances Doty Chitty. He was a retired electrician for Piedmont Airlines and US Airways, and a member of Union Grove Baptist Church. Pete was a US Navy Veteran. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Betty Jean Lineback Chitty of the home; two daughters, Virlyn Phelps of Welcome, and Cynthia Pierce of Midway; six grandchildren, Matthew Phelps and wife, Rebecca, Andrew Phelps and wife, Jackie, Alycen Swor and husband, David, Miranda Groves and husband, John, Joe Pierce, Alex Pierce; ten great grandchildren and a brother, Rev. Dr. Virgil T. Chitty and wife, Alma of Winston-Salem.
