Pete Lawson, 67, of Oak Avenue, died Saturday, December 26 at Hinkle Hospice House after an extended illness.
A funeral service will be held at 2 pm Wednesday, December 30 at Near Calvary Freewill Baptist Church by the Revs. Jeff Walser, Vick Redding, Bradley Testerman, and James Messer. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home of the sister on School Street.
Mr. Lawson was born August 12, 1948 in Guilford County to Charlie Clifton Lawson and Alice Elizabeth Snyder Overly. He retired from Stanley Furniture and was a member of Near Calvary Freewill Baptist Church. His wife, Margaret Ann Smith Lawson, and his brothers, Johnny Lawson, Roger Lawson, and Carl Lawson, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his daughter, Christy Smith of Lexington; his sister, Carolyn Byerly, and Pat Cockerham and husband, John, of Lexington; his grandchildren, Charles Smith, Alisha Smith, and Ashley Smith; and his great grandchild, Zamari Pegues.
