Pete Lumsden

July 16, 1930 — October 19, 2017

  Richard Eugene “Pete” Lumsden, 87, of Dykers Creek Rd, died Thursday, October 19 at his home after declining health.    A funeral service will be held at 2 pm Monday, October 23 at the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel, by the Rev. Doug Pryor.  Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.    The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service.    Mr. Lumsden was born July 16, 1930 in Davidson County to John Edgar Lumsden and Ellie Parks Lumsden Roberts.  He retired from PPG Industries and was a faithful member of Friendship United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the Kitchen Gang.  His wife, Betty Jean Walser Lumsden, preceded him in death.    He is survived by his daughter, Denise Black and husband, Ronnie, of Lexington; his granddaughter, Courtney Black Mason and husband, Ronnie; his sisters, Dorothy Craver of Lexington, and Ruby McSwain of Charleston, SC; his brother in law, Lindsay Walser and wife, Bonnie, of Lexington; his sister in law, Jewel Dorsett of Lexington; his special niece, Kay Cartrette of Lexington; numerous nieces and nephews, and his special companion, Hailey.     Memorials may be directed to Friendship United Methodist Church,  2840 Friendship Church Rd. Lexington, NC 27295
