Philip "Kilroy" Cary Bishop, age 74 of Lexington, passed away on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at Hinkle Hospice House of Lexington.
Kilroy will lie in state from 1pm until 5pm on Tuesday, March 30 th at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, March 31 in the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Randy Powers officiating and will be livestreamed at www.facebook.com/davidson.funeralhome .
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, limited seating is available and masks are required.
Kilroy was born on January 30, 1947 in Grundy, Virginia to Earl Bishop and Ruby Hall Bishop, having moved to Lexington, NC around the age of 12. He retired with 42 years of service from Caroline Gas Company. Kilroy loved drag racing, having won several trophies and was a diehard Dallas Cowboy Fan.
Kilroy was a well respected staple in the community. He enjoyed coaching and playing several sports at Reeds Community Center. Later he served as President for several years with the Reeds Booster Club.
His greatest enjoyment was being with his family and taking care of his two little dogs, Fluffy and Tinkerbell. In addition to his parents, he is preceded by his brother Ronnie Bishop.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Fonda Howell Bishop, of the home; son, Jerry Bishop of Lexington; grandchildren, Brooke Bishop, Austin Bishop, Alec Bishop and Aidyn Bishop, all of Lexington; sister, Tina Phillips (Marty) and brother, Danny Ray Bishop, both of Lexington; and several nieces and nephews.
