Philip Aaron "Buddy" Williams, 60, of Old U.S. Highway 52, Welcome, died Monday, Nov. 6, 2006, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem after six years of declining health.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, by the Revs. Roger Shull and Dan Walser. Burial will be in Forest Hill Memorial Park.
Mr. Williams was born Feb. 3, 1946, in Montgomery County to Claude Houston Williams and Mary Lee Cooper Williams. He worked for McLean Trucking for 23 years and retired in February 1998 from the Veterans Administration in Winston-Salem. While he worked there, he obtained an associate degree in business. He served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a devoted son, loving brother and caring uncle, and had a kind word for everyone. He was an avid fisherman and loved skiing and computers. He was preceded in death by his father; two sisters, Mary Jo Williams Carter and Patricia Ilene Williams Dorsett; and a nephew, Curtis Michael Carter.
Surviving are his mother; two nieces, Cathy Carter of Holden Beach and Cheryl Carter Armstrong of Winston-Salem; three nephews, Royce William Dorsett, John Edward Dorsett and James Aaron Carter, all of Welcome; eight great-nieces and great-nephews; and one great-great niece.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Wednesday at the funeral home and other times at the home.
