Phillip Travis Passmore, Jr., 76, of Happy Hill Rd., Lexington died Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at his home after a sudden illness. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Sheets Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Frankie Matthews officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Friday, March 6, 2015 at Davidson Funeral Home. Mr. Passmore was born February 4, 1939 in Macon County, NC to Phillip Travis Passmore, Sr. and Mamie Conley Passmore. He was a retired employee of Thomasville Furniture Industries after over 50 years of service. An active member of Sheets Memorial Baptist Church since 1962, where he was a Deacon, Trustee, School Board Member and a Head Usher. He was also an active member of the Ralph Starr Sunday School Class. Preceding him in death was his parents, four brothers, James A. Passmore, A Moses Passmore, Clint H. Passmore, Carl Passmore and a sister, Janie V. Passmore Wilson. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Virginia Barker Passmore of the home; a son, Mark T. Passmore of Lexington; two brothers, Larry A. Passmore (Carolyn) of Thomasville, Lex A. Passmore of Trinity; six sisters, N. Louise Cowart, Mary J. Passmore, Lacy E. Cowart, Dolly V. Jarrett, Exie Vee Hockett all of Thomasville, Nellie L. Cowart (Earl) of Franklin , NC; and a sister-in-law, Betty Passmore of Trinity.
