Phillip Zimmerman

June 27, 1943 — November 5, 2025

Lexington

Phillip “Phil” Webster Zimmerman passed away Wednesday November 5, 2025. Born to the late Webb and Bennetta Zimmerman, Phil lived his entire life in the Northern Davidson County area. Phil was a proud teamster, working for McLean & Yellow Trucking. He earned many awards for being a safe driver, driving millions of miles without incident. Once retired, he farmed the family land, always growing an overwhelming garden to share with friends and family. He, along with his wife and daughter, Anna, raised, bred, and showed paint horses.

Phil was a devoted husband, a protective Daddy, and proud grandfather. He will be profoundly missed by us all.

In addition to his parents, Phil was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Brenda G. Zimmerman. Phil and Brenda met at North Davidson Senior High. They enjoyed traveling but always made sure to make it to their seats for the Daytona 500 in February.

Left to cherish his memory are his brother Richard (Nancy), his daughters, Gwen Cook (Daryl) and Anna Wishon (Rodney); and his three grandsons, Mechim (Liana) Cook, Grayson Cook, and Webb Wishon.

He never met a stranger, always had one more story to tell, and if you were lucky enough to ride with him, you might find a completely new way to get home.

A graveside service to honor Phil’s well-lived life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 9, at Mt. Olivet Church Cemetery, with Pastors Michael McDaniel and Rick LeBaube officiating. Following the service, the family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Novant Health - Forsyth Medical Center. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hinkle Hospice House, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292. Additionally, the family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Stacy M. Hill and Emily Armsworthy of Arcadia Family Medicine for their above-and-beyond care, compassion, and dedication. Their support brought comfort, dignity, and peace during Phil’s journey, and their kindness will forever be remembered.
