Phyllis Blanche Harmon Moretz, 81, of Davidson County, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2023.
A funeral service will be held Friday, February 3, 2023, at 11 AM at Stoner’s Grove Baptist Church, with Pastor John Bishop and Pastor Franklin Myers officiating. A committal will follow immediately after the service in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Thursday evening at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington.
Phyllis was born on April 13, 1941, in Banner Elk, to the late Sylvanus Harmon and Dorothy Harmon. She worked for many years in the cafeteria of Southwood Elementary School and was a member of Stoner’s Grove Baptist Church. She was very active in her church as a member of the WMU, the Knitting Group, and other committees, along with the church choir. Phyllis enjoyed traveling, sewing, cooking, and loved sitting on the front porch of her cabin in Boone. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Keith Harmon and Jack Harmon; and one sister, Betty Webb.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 65 years, Jacob “JD” Moretz, of the home; daughters, Pam Crotts (Gary) of Lexington, and Christy Harris (Scott) of Carolina Beach; son, Ricky Moretz (Pam) of Lexington; sister, Marquehetta Burris of Lexington; six grandchildren, Brandy Musgrave (Scott), Mindy Lawson (Eric), Joshua Moretz (Jennifer), Bradley Moretz, Grayson Harris, and Rylan Harris; and eight great-grandchildren, Trevor (Zoie), Devon, Jack, Dylan, Brynna, Aiden, Carlie, and Lynley.
