Polly Irene Lanning, age 75, of Numa Byerly Road, Lexington passed away at her home Saturday night (July 23, 2011). Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday (July 28, 2011) at New Friendship United Church of Christ with Rev. Cindy Burns and Rev. Sarah Snell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30 until 1:45 prior to the service and at other times at the residence on Numa Byerly Road.
Polly was born in Davidson County October 13, 1935 to Numa Elwood Byerly and Edith Hedrick Byerly. She was a retired employee of Manhattan Shirt and a member of New Friendship United Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Marvin Anderson Lanning, Jr. in 2001; and brothers Elwood and Bryce Byerly.
Surviving are; two daughters, Diane Everhart and husband Larry of Lexington and Edith Lanning of the home; one son, Marvin “Eugene” Lanning and wife Bettie of Lexington; three grandchildren, Nathan Taylor, Wendy Everhart and Mandy Connie and husband Scotty; two great-grandchildren, Ridge and Rylee Connie; one sister, Elizabeth Taylor and husband J.C. of Lexington.
