Rachael Koonts

Mrs. Rachael Myers Koonts, age 88 of Idlewild Drive, Lexington, NC died Thursday, March 1 at Wake Forest Lexington Medical Center. A funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday, March 3 at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Robin Keating. Burial will follow at Lexington City Cemetery. The family will see friends from 2:30 to 3:30 PM Saturday at Davidson Funeral Home. Mrs. Koonts was born July 3, 1923 in Davidson County to John Herman Myers and Jakie Craver Myers. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Lexington Women’s Club. Mrs. Koonts was a graduate of Ashemore Business College and more than 40 years ago she founded Dawn’s Bridal Shop which is still operated by her family. She was an avid bridge player. She was preceded in death by brothers Craver Myers and P. G. (Dick) Myers and sisters Lucille Myers Brinkley, Daphne Myers Hedrick and Cornelia Myers Myers. She is survived by her husband H. C. Koonts, Jr. of the home; a daughter, Dawn Koonts Shaak and husband Bob of Lexington; grandchildren Raeann Biesecker and Rob Shaak and 4 great grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Thelma Myers of Lexington.
