Rachel Burkhart Cox

Rachel Kepley Burkhart Cox, age 84 of Country Club Blvd. passed away Friday evening March 24, 2017 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday March 27, 2017 at Second Reformed United Church of Christ, where she was a member with Rev. Jim Luck officiating. The family will greet friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. Rachel was born in Davidson County July 20, 1932 to Charlie Lee Kepley and Esther Hancock Kepley. She was a homemaker, a volunteer for Meals on Wheels since 1972 and a volunteer with Pastor’s Pantry. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jack Cornelius Burkhart in 2007, a sister, Ellen Younts and brothers, John and Joe Kepley. Surviving are her husband, Howard Cox; daughter, Beth Parrott and husband Mac; sons, Robert Burkhart and wife Maria, David Burkhart and wife Lisa; grandchildren, Elizabeth Shive and husband Daniel, Katherine Farless and husband Graham, Anna Gwennap and husband Ty, Meredith Hunter and husband Ben, Ellen Burkhart, Rachel Burkhart and Emma Burkhart; great-grandchildren, Mac and Charlie Shive, Graham, Burk and John Farless, Kathryn and Amelia Gwennap and Ellen Hunter; her sister, Violet Beck; her brother, Jack Kepley.
