Rachel Hester

Mrs. Rachel Elizabeth Frank Hester, 90, of E. Ninth Street Ext., died Friday at Alston Brook Nursing Center after an illness of one week. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, June 21, from the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel, by Tom Nussbaum. Burial will follow in the Lexington City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Sunday at Davidson Funeral Home. Mrs. Hester was born July 31, 1919 in Davidson County to Charlie Hoover Frank and Mazie Hunt Frank. She retired from Yarbrough’s Hosiery. Her husbands, Don Surratt and William Hester, preceded her in death as well as her son, Gene Surratt; and her brother, Howard L. Frank. She is survived by her son, David Larry Surratt of Collinsville, VA; her daughters, Thelma Lorene Pennington and Erma Jane Broce and husband, Herbert, both of Linwood; her daughter in law, Katherine Surratt of Lexington; her brother, Jack Frank and wife, Lala, of Lexington; her sister, Katy Ruth Frank of California; 13 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and four great great-grandchildren.
