Rachel Curry Hobbs, 84, of Sink Circle, Lexington loving mother, grandmother, sister and devoted church member, who dearly loved her church and family, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013 at her daughter’s home after two and one-half years of declining health.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Monday, Feb. 11, 2013 at Meadowview Reformed Presbyterian Church with Rev. Chris Bitterman officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013 at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home of the daughter, Vickie Barnhardt, Green Meadows Dr., Lexington.
Mrs. Hobbs was born July 28, 1928 in Davidson County to Homer Franklin Curry and Annie Phillips Curry. She was a charter member of Meadowview Reformed Presbyterian Church, and a former Sunday School Teacher. She was a retired employee of Dixie Furniture after 42 years of service. Preceding her in death was her husband, Donald Winford Hobbs, a granddaughter, Michelle Craver, two brothers, Thomas Curry, Jesse Roy Curry and a sister, Mildred Sowers.
Surviving are a son, Timothy D. Hobbs and wife, Susan of Lexington; a daughter, Vickie Barnhardt and husband, Nolan of Lexington; two grandchildren, Meredith Derrick and husband, Ryan, Hayden Hobbs; three great grandchildren, Gabriel Derrick, Trinity Derrick, Kailan Hobbs; brothers, Don Curry and wife, Colleen and Homer Curry and wife Linda both of Lexington; four sisters, Evelyn Gilliland, Betty Crowell, Lena Church and husband, Walter and Geraldine Scott and husband, Benny all of Lexington.
