Rachel Thurman Myers

Rachel Thurman Myers, age 84 of Simerson Road, Lexington passed away Sunday afternoon at Hinkle Hospice House. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 pm Thursday (October 23, 2014) at Forest Hill Memorial Park. There will be no public visitation at the funeral home, however the family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, Debbie Allen, 3852 Goat Pasture Road, Lexington. Rachel was born in Franklin County, VA October 30, 1929 to Samuel Clayton and Hattie Hall Thurman. She was a retired employee of Norman’s of Salisbury and of the Baptist Faith. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Gertrude Hall and Esther Bowling and son-in-law, Hugh Allen. Surviving are her daughters, Debbie Allen of Lexington and Tammy Britt of Winston Salem; sons, Tony Britt (Debbie) of Chester, VA and Billy Jones (Janel) of Lexington;10 grandchildren, Tracy and Steven Shaw, Taylor Britt, Sharon and Chris Allen, Terry, Casey, Cole and Jozi Jones and Patricia Jessup; and 11 great-grandchildren.
