Rachel Reid

Rachel Yarbrough Reid, age 94, of Lexington passed away on Sunday morning, December 22, 2019. She had been a resident at Grayson Creek Assisted Living in Welcome for two years. Mrs. Reid was preceded in death in 2003 by her husband, Walter F. Reid, to whom she was married for 55 years. The funeral service will be held 2pm Saturday, December 28th at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel, by the Rev. Vern Peterson. Burial will follow in the Lexington City Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Rachel Reid was born November 3, 1925 in Lexington. She was born to Henry F. Yarbrough and Bessie Koontz Yarbrough. Rachel was an active member of TOPS for many years, serving as a club officer on several occasions. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Foy Yarbrough, Vernel Yarbrough, Rayvon Yarbrough and Willie Yarbrough and two sisters, Minnie Younts and Effie Harleson. Rachel was the youngest of the seven children and the last to pass. Surviving is her loving and very devoted son, David Franklin Reid and wife, Ann, of Winston-Salem; two grandchildren, Benton E. Miles, Jr. and Julie Ann Miles, both of Greensboro. Also, three great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren, all living in the Raleigh area. A special thanks to Trellis Supportive Care and Grayson Creek Assisted Living for all the loving care Rachel received during her stay; we will always be grateful.
