Charles Raeford Copley, 75 of Sidney Street, died Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Hinkle Hospice House after an illness of three weeks.
A funeral service will be 2:00 pm Wednesday October 24, 2012, at Coggins Memorial Baptist Church where he was a member with Rev. Lewis Johns officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 23, 2012, at the funeral home and other times at the home on Sidney Street.
Mr. Copley was born February 8, 1937, in Davidson County, to Leroy Copley and Delkie Dane Bean Copley. He proudly served in the US Navy and was a member of American Legion Post 8. He was retired from National Wholesale with 20 years of service and had worked with Copley Heating and Air. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Brenda Hill Copley and his son, Glenn Copley and two sisters, Elizabeth McCary and Margaret Kinnamen.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret (Peggy) Wood Copley of the home; two sons, Alan Copley and Scott Copley wife Stefanie, all of Lexington; step sons, Jack Mundy and special friend Cheryl Aesy and Rick Mundy; 7 grandchildren, Christina Copley, Casey Copley, Chase Copley, Kaitlyn Copley, Kara Copley, Cory Copley and Taylor Copley all of Lexington; sisters, Dot (Doris) Morgan and husband John of Salisbury.
