Ralph Franklin Barnes, age 92 of Carillon Assisted Living in Monroe, formerly of Westover Drive, Lexington passed away Friday morning, December 2, 2016. A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, December 5, 2016 at Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte with Rev. Ken Hucks officiating. Burial will follow with Military Honors. Ralph was born in Gaston County, NC July 8, 1924 to Thomas Franklin Barnes and Cora Lee Welch Barnes. He was a retired employee of Greyhound Bus and was a veteran of the US Navy having served in World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife Lila Latham Dunn Barnes; sisters, Ruby Nell Bame and Rosie Cope; brothers, Thomas Franklin Barnes, Jr., Clarence Grady Barnes and Robert Buford Barnes. Surviving are his daughter, Alda Beam (Phil) of Charlotte; sons, Tommy Barnes (Cheryl) and Eddie Barnes of Vermont; step-daughter, Teresa Dunn Snyder (Mike) of Lexington; step-sons, Roy Dunn (Ella) and Boyd Dunn (Deane) all of Lexington; 5 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brothers, Richard Lee Barnes of Gastonia and John Barnes of Dallas, TX.
