Ralph Palmer Hunt

Ralph Palmer Hunt, age 78, of Lexington, passed away Saturday (March 1, 2009) at Lexington Memorial Hospital. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 7, 2009, at Center Hill Baptist Church, where he was a member with Revs. Brian Alexander and Lamar Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military graveside rites by VFW Post 3074. Mr. Hunt was born in Davidson County February 19, 1931, to D. Bradley Hunt and Leona Palmer Hunt. He attended Mars Hill College and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and was a lifelong Tarheel fan. He was also a retired Lt. Colonel of the U.S. Air Force having served in Vietnam. He flew the KC-135 Tanker for Strategic Air Command. He was a life member of VFW Post 3074. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Westmoreland Hunt, three sisters, Treva Leonard, Rosa Holmes, Vergie Warfford; and four brothers, Joe Hunt, Clifford Hunt, Adrian Hunt, and Jim Hunt. Surviving are stepsons, Sam Easterling and wife, Pam, of Blacksburg, Va., and Steve Easterling and wife, Jill, of Franklin, TN, son, William Hunt and wife, Faith, of Shelby; stepdaughter, Susan Easterling of Arlington, TN, grandchildren, Amanda, Mike, Parker, Katie and Karlie Easterling, and Isaac, Grace and Cana Hunt; sister, Donese Sink and husband, Henry; brother, Fred Hunt and wife, Carolyn, of Charlotte; and sister-in-law, Margie Hunt of Arizona. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2009, at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington. Memorials may be directed to Center Hill Baptist Church, 3759 N. NC Highway 8.
