Ralph Lawrence Jordan,79, of Woodberry Dr., Lexington, died Thursday 4:15 PM at Lexington Memorial Hospital after declining health of nine months. A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, February 5, 2006 at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel in Lexington, by Dr. Charles Yarborough. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. Mr. Jordan was born in Watertown, Ohio on June 5, 1926 to Lawrence Jordan and Olive Day Jordan. He retired from Lexington Furniture Industries and was a veteran having served in the US Navy. Mr. Jordan was a member of Christ United Church of Christ where he served on the consistory, the church choir and the brotherhood. He was also a member of the South Lexington Senior Club and the Lexington Police Department Coffee Club. He was preceded in death by his sister Mary Lou Jordan. He is survived by his loving wife Betty George Jordan; his daughters: Cathy Gwaltney and husband Michael of Mooresville; Pam Whitake and husband, Ralph of Concord; his step-daughters: Lucinda Thompson and husband, Danny; Debbie Scates and husband, Roy; and Lisa Hilliard and husband, Wayne, all of Lexington; his grandchildren: Angela Ivey, Sonya Greene, Eric Greene, Joseph Smith, and Serenia Isaacs; his step-grandchildren: Amanda Thompson, Jamie Koontz and husband Chris, and Chris Scates and wife Rena; his great grandchildren: Thomas Greene, Saba Greene, Max Greene Kyle Greene Ryan Greene, Zack Ivey, and Brendon Smith; and his step great-grandchildrenHunter Chayse Koontz, and Zoie Ryan Scates. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at DAVIDSON FUNERAL HOME and other times at the home on Woodberry Dr., Lexington.
