Ralph Owens, 87, of the Brian Center and formerly of Oakdale St., Lexington, died Friday at the nursing facility.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, March 31, 2008 from the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Max Shoaf. Entombment will follow at the Forest Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum with military rites by VFW Post 3074.
Mr. Owens was born December 27, 1920 in Davidson County to Ivan Owens and Genorah Briggs Owens. He retired from PPG Industries and was a member of Linwood United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the US Navy, having served in World War II. He was a member of the VFW Post 3074, American Legion Post 8, Amvets Post 13, and the Woodmen of the World. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eva Eggleston Owens, who died January 8, 2004; two brothers: Olin Owens and Kermit Owens; and two sisters: Occie Alley, and Genevieve Craver.
He is survived by his daughter, Diana Oakley and husband, Jimmy, of Lexington; his brothers: Hulin Owens, Horace Owens, and Wilford Owens; his sisters: Opal Rowe and Leatha Shoaf, both of Lexington; his grandchildren: Shannon Fowler and husband, Bobby, and Brandi Cunningham, and husband, Rob, both of Lexington; and his great grandchildren: Breanna Fowler, Brett Fowler, and Chase Cunningham.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Sunday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home of the daughter on Canary Drive, Lexington.
