Ramelle Hooks

Ethel Ramelle Hooks, of Grimes Circle, died Friday at Lexington Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, November 23 at the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Carl Lindquist officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. Miss Hooks was born in Stanley County to Samuel Alexander Hooks, Sr. and Ethel Smith Hooks. She retired from Borden Dairy and was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church. Her brothers, Samuel A. Hooks, Jr, and Joe Eben Hooks, and her sisters, Geraldine Hooks Morris and Helen Hooks Murdock, preceded her in death. She was very devoted to her family and will be missed. She is survived by her nephews, Michael Alexander Hooks, and wife, Joan, of Greensboro, Dr. Steve Murdock of Lexington and Charles Bryce Murdock of Gastonia; and her nieces, Sheryl Southern, and husband, Randy, of Greensboro, and Martha Morris Bowers, and husband, Paul Warren, of Jamestown. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 pm Sunday at Davidson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund, 310 S.
