Ranchhodji Gopalji Patel, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2024 at his home in Lexington, NC, surrounded by his family. He was born on June 25, 1931 in Motikarod, India to Kashiben and Gopalji Patel. His childhood and early adult life were spent in Motikarod. He worked as an elementary school teacher and he also farmed vegetables, rice and wheat in his spare time. At the age of 52, he took an early retirement and migrated to the United States to be with family. After the retirement, he stayed actively involved in helping his son and two daughters.
His passion was gardening, and for many years, he would spend hours planting & caring for, and harvesting vegetables. He enjoyed sharing his harvest and his gardening tricks with family and friends.
He cherished his relationships with everyone. To maintain and nurture these relations he actively wrote letters and made telephone calls to his family and friends in India, Canada, England and the United States.
Nearly 20 years ago, he started the Kashi-Gopal Trust in honor of his parents, for the benefit of children’s education in his hometown. Since its inception, the Kashi-Gopal Trust has helped many students with basic school supplies and financial aid for higher education.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gangaben, his son Niranjan, daughter-in-law, Sudha, daughter Lata, son-in-law Pravin, daughter Nita, son-in-law Mastikmukesh, grandson Sagar, granddaughter Megha, grandson-in-law Ryan, grandson Chintan, and granddaughter-in-law Neha and three great grandchildren, Hannah, Natasha, and Praneel. He is predeceased by his mother Kashiben, father Gopalji, brothers Lallubhai, Chhotubhai, and Zinabhai, and his eldest grandson, Nishant.
