Randall Lee “Randy” Shumaker, 53 of Tori Lane, Lexington passed away Wednesday January 13th at Hinkle Hospice House.
A celebration of life will be held at 4:00 PM Friday January 15th at First Alliance Church where he was a member with Rev. Paul Titus and Dr. Gary Gibson officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home.
Randy was born in Davidson County on April 20, 1962 to George Ray “Pete” Shumaker and Glenda Milner Shumaker. He attended Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA and was owner of The Truck Shop. He loved singing with Second Chance Bluegrass Band. His death is just a “Bend in the Road” as the song he was known for writing. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and loved to restore old cars.
Surviving are his loving wife, Kelly Carr Shumaker of the home, son, Joshua Caleb Shumaker (Darcey) of Lexington; daughters Jessica Lynn Shumaker-Long (Aaron) of Salisbury and Lindsey Morgan Shumaker of Lexington; grandson Stetson Long who was the love of his life and called him “Poppy” and his soon to be born granddaughter, Tinslee Long; his father, Pete Shumaker (Lee) of Pilot Mountain and mother Glenda Pierce (Chuck) of Lexington; brother Tony Shumaker (Tammy) of Winston Salem and sister Wendy Newman (Joey) of Lexington.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to First Alliance Church, 1370 Arnold Rd. Lexington, NC 27295.
