Randolph “Randy” Bennett, age 78 of Brookstone Retirement Center, formerly of Giles Road, Lexington passed away Monday morning (September 6, 2010) at Brookstone.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday (September 8, 2010) at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Howard G. Baker officiating. Burial will follow at Sandy Creek Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 pm in Pless Hall, of the Church.
Randy was born April 27, 1932 in Pendleton County, West Virginia to Darlie A. and Nellie Lambert Bennett. He was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. A former member of Square N-Aders Western Square Dance Club, retired volunteer with Tyro Fire Department and a member of Amvets Post 13. He served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War. He was a retired employee of Billings Trucking Company. He was preceded in death by his parents, foster parents, Paul and Maggie Mauzy; wife Joyce Davis Bennett, August 22, 2010, six sisters, Mary Ruckman, Evelyn Anderson, Sylvia Bennett, Hilda Gordon, Violet Bennett and Margie Bennett; two brothers, Laymond and Herman Bennett.
Surviving are: two daughters, Jan Montgomery and husband Kenny of High Point, Sandra Lane and husband Mark of Glen Allen, VA, four grandchildren, Kelly Lane Ridenour and husband Sam, Laura Lane, Ashley Montgomery and Kristin Montgomery; four sisters, Leola Genobles of Spartanburg, SC, Sallie Brown of Harrisonburg, VA, Emma Bland of Riverton, WV., Cornelia Hutchins of Baltimore, MD and a foster sister, Judy Merz of Bridgewater, VA.
The family would like to thank the staff of Brookstone and Hospice for the care given to Randy during his illness.
