Randy "Butch" Horton

Randy "Butch" Harrison Horton Sr., 53, of Wilson Street, died Tuesday, July 24, 2007, at Brian Center Nursing Care. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel, by the Rev. Darrell Cartrette. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Horton was born in Iredell County on Oct. 4, 1953, to William Harrison Horton Jr. and Frances Irene Stevenson Ball. He was employed at Cook's Barbecue and was a former member of the N.C. National Guard. He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Edward Charles Ball; two brothers, Michael Eugene Horton and George Vernie Horton; and one stepsister, Kathy Venesa Ball. Surviving are one son, Randy Horton Jr. and his wife, Jeanette, of Gainesville, Fla.; one daughter, Tracie Dawn Nanney of Spruce Pine; two grandchildren, Lexi Nanney and Sierria Nanney; four sisters, Linda Owensby and her husband, Charles, and Sherry Myers, all of Welcome, and Sandra Kay Cross and her husband, Ricky, and Judi James and her husband, Butch, of Lexington; one nephew, Tim Owensby; his former wife, Debbie Boyd; and a special friend, Don Knotts. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and other times at the home of Sherry Myers, 180 Scott Drive. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, P.O.
