Randy Terry Koonts

January 27, 1955 — March 23, 2021

Randy Terry Koonts, age 66 of Lexington, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at his home.

The body will lie in state from 1pm until 5pm on Thursday, March 25 th at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington.

A funeral service with limited seating will be held at 11am on Friday, March 26 th at Tyro United Methodist Church with Rev. Randy Foster officiating and will be streamed live at www.facebook.com/davidson.funeralhome Covid-19 precautions of social distancing and wearing a mask will be followed.

A private entombment will follow at the Forest Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Randy was born on January 27, 1955 in Davidson County to Terry Joe Koonts and Flossie Alease Michael Koonts.  He worked in the food service industry for 25 years and then went on to work for Davis Chevrolet, as well as Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington as a funeral assistant.  He served as chief judge with the Board of Elections.  Randy had a wonderful personality.  He was a people person, knew everyone and never met a stranger.  He loved racing and often traveled to different speedways to watch in person.  Randy was a member of Tyro Methodist Church and was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Willie Joe and Jackson Michael Koonts and sisters, Janice Koonts Hughes and Gail Koonts Graves.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Shelia Briggs Koonts, of the home; son, Justin Koonts (Alison Perdue Koonts) of Lexington; grandchildren, Macy Briggs Koonts and Sam Raygen Koonts; and sisters-in-law, Sybil Koonts and Elsie Koonts.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Tyro United Methodist Church, 4484 S. NC Hwy 150, Lexington, NC 27295.
