Walter Ray Briggs, 73, of Lake Shore Avenue died Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
A funeral service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday at Holloways Baptist Church by the Rev. Dr. Dana Slack. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-8 PM at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home of the son at 514 Woodlawn Drive, Lexington.
Mr. Briggs was born August 2, 1941 in Davidson County to Cletus and Vivian Potts Briggs. He worked for Burlington Furniture Co. and later retired from Lexington Home Brands. He was a member of Holloways Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Abernathy Briggs of the home; his daughter, Monica Briggs Hedrick of Winston Salem; his step-sons, Paul Bailey and husband, Haideliso Frutuozo, of Raleigh, and Keith Bailey and wife, Terri, of Lexington; two step-daughters, Teresa Bailey of the home, and Diana Hamilton and husband, William, of Lexington; his sisters, Pat Towery and Bonnie King, both of Lexington, and Terri Groves of Raleigh; his grandchildren, Brigmann Bailey and wife, Tiffany, Crystal Allred, Curtis Bailey, Justin Bailey, Josh Hedrick, and Christopher Hedrick; and nine great grandchildren.
