Ray Von Jones

Ray Von Jones, 69, of Beaver Dam Creek Road, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2008, at Brian Center of Lexington after declining health of one and a half years. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. Mr. Jones was born July 26, 1939, in Davidson County, to Stanford Jarvis Jones and Sula Marie Koonts Jones. He was a 1958 graduate of Lexington Senior High School, served in the U.S. National Guard, assistant manager at Winn Dixie and retired from Lexington Furniture Industries. He was a member of Second Reformed United Church of Christ. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his father, and a sister, Brenda J. Gathings. Surviving are his wife, JoAnne Siceloff Jones of the home; a son, Darryl Ray Jones of Lexington; a daughter, Sherri Deanna Jones Smith and husband, Rodney, of Lexington; grandchildren, Austin Smith, Steven Ray Jones and Lauryn Elizabeth Smith; brothers, Dan Jones and Jerry Stanford Jones and wife, Jamie, all of Lexington; his mother of Lexington; and his special dog, Huney. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
