Raymond Alva Boone, age 75, of Tyro Heights Road, Lexington, died Monday afternoon in Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem after an illness of 4 months. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, May 31 at Tyro United Methodist Church with Rev. Randy Foster officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. Mr. Boone was born in Davidson County on May 28, 1932 to Will Henry Boone and Emma Snider Boone. He retired after working for Burlington Industries and Stanley Furniture and was a member of Tyro United Methodist Church. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Raymond was an avid hunter & sports fan. He traveled to many counties, including, Davidson, Rowan, Guilford and Alamance to skeet shoot. He respected and loved animals. When he was not hunting he enjoyed being an assistant coach for the Fab Masters & Grassy Creek Women’s Softball teams. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Robert Joe Boone and Arthur Lee Boone. Surviving are his wife Barbara “Polly” Glenn Boone of the home, daughter, Sheila Boone of Lexington, brothers Willie Boone, Jr. and wife Lillian and Daniel Boone and wife Lucy both of Lexington and sister-in-law, Obelia Boone of Lexington. The Family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington and at other times at the home of his daughter, 205 Tyro Heights Rd.
