Raymond Douglas Queen, 77, of Davidson County, passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2024.

There are no formal services but burial will be at Salisbury National Cemetery.

Raymond was born on October 27, 1946, in Davidson County, to the late Herman Haynes Queen and Vadie Payne Queen. He attended Central Davidson High School and later went on to receive his high school diploma from DDCC in 1988. From 1966 – 1972, he served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War and was a proud veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 8.

Raymond was known for being an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed annual fishing trips to Bryson City with his grandson, Alex. Those who knew him remember his gruff exterior but the ultimate heart of care that he truly carried.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Johnathan Shane Wilson; infant sister, Velvie Novella Queen; sister, Venice Queen Koonts; and brother-in-law, Joseph O’Neill.

Left to carry on his legacy are his three daughters, Tracy Queen Whitfield (Aaron), of Lexington, Mandy Queen Robertson (Scott), of Clemmons, and Dionne Dunlap, of Lexington; eight grandchildren, Brent Shore (Whitney), Jessica Whitfield Johnson (Elliott), Dylan Robertson, Trevor Robertson, Sophie Robertson, Cameron Hall, Tyler Hester, and special grandson, Alex Hester (Sarah), of Winston Salem; six great grandchildren; brothers, Curtis Queen (Elsie), and Billy Queen (Shirley); sister, Agnes Queen O’Neill; and numerous nieces and nephews.
