Raymond Howard Shupe Sr., 76, of Giles Road, died Sunday, February 15, 2009, at his home following an extended illness.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 18, 2009, at Davidson Funeral Home with the Rev. Darrell Cartrette officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Shupe was born February 3, 1933, in Grayson County, Va., to Benny Howard Shupe and Zollie Nichols Shupe. He was a retired fixer from Dacotah Cotton Mill. He attended Mt. Carmel Free Will Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Louise Hodge Shupe; sisters, Dale Hawkins, Pauline Martin and Patsy Shupe; and a brother, Oscar Shupe.
Surviving are a son, Raymond H. Shupe Jr. and wife, Vickie, of Lexington; a daughter, Betty McDuffy and husband, Kenneth, of Lexington; grandchildren, April Saunders and husband, Jody, Jermey Shupe and wife, Crystal, Jamie Shupe and fiancé, Jason See, Ken McDuffy Jr. and Joey McDuffy and wife, Kasia; great-grandchildren, Brianna Drewery, Kendall Saunders, Abbigail Dorsett and Gracie See; a brother, Tommy Harold Shupe of Fries, Va.; and a sister, Catherine Chapel of Salem, Va.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and other times at the home of his son, Raymond Shupe Jr. on Allen Yountz Lane.
