Rebecca (Becky) Byerly Freedle

July 4, 1938 — June 20, 2016

Rebecca (Becky) Byerly Freedle. A name not many people have heard of. She lived a simple life in the small town of Reedy Creek. She never traveled out of the state, never attended school and never had a job. Her lack of traveling, no formal education and lack of employment were by no fault of her own. Becky was born in Davidson County on July 4, 1938, to Clifford and Ethel Freedle. She was a beautiful, wonderfully-made child who was not given the gift of speech, hearing, and had limited vision. Even though she didn't have these senses which so many people take for granted, Becky thrived. She learned to read, write, and became one of the smartest people that a lot of individuals had met. She didn't need a smartphone to remind her of someone's birthday. She remembered. Someone's wedding anniversary, she always remembered. She read the newspaper from cover to cover and understood the world she read about. She cooked and baked. She passed along cherished recipes which will be treasured for generations. She loved. Her family, whom she worried over, were the first ones she fussed over. Her sweet, gentle smile was always there to let you know she cared. You never had to doubt her love. Even until the very end, she gave gentle, loving kisses to her loved ones as a way of saying, "don't be sad for me". This is not an easy task. Not being sad. She will be missed. Greatly. Deeply. There will be no more driving to the house seeing her feeding her cats and loving on them. No more warm pound cakes fresh from the oven to devour. No more sweet, gentle smiles. What there will be is a void in our lives. But we will try to rejoice for Becky. Finally, she can hear. All the music. All the instruments. All the voices. Finally, she will speak. Becky will have a voice. One can only wonder what the sound of her voice will be. I am certain it will be the sweetest sound ever-like an angel. Finally, she will see. Completely. Free of darkness. Free of blurry vision. Makes one wonder what she will do when she sees a rainbow, a beautiful flower or even when .she finally sees her parents again but this time in complete and perfect clarity. On June 20, 2016 Becky became free of pain, free of fear and free to finally have a perfect everlasting life with her Maker. So while we as her family are left to go on without her, we will rejoice for her. We will be happy for Becky because she is whole. Complete. Becky is survived by her sister Peggy Freedle Smith (Willie) of Advance, brother Bobby Freedle of Lexington, and sister Elizabeth Freedle of Lexington. She is also survived by her niece Linda Dodd of Advance, nephew Terry Smith (Kim) of Clemmons and niece GeeNeen Freedle Brown (Todd) of Welcome. Great nieces, Natalie Dodd, Nicole Smith, Chloe Brown. Great-great niece Giovanna Dodd and great-great nephew Sean Smith. The family visitation will be at Davidson Funeral Home Hickory Tree Chapel from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Wednesday, June 22, 2016. There will be a private family burial at Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons, NC. The family request in lieu of flowers that contributes be made to the Kate B.
