Rebecca George Briggs

Rebecca George Briggs, 87, of Baxter Court, died Sunday, August 16, 2015, at Alston Brook Nursing Center. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, August 20, 2015, at Second Presbyterian Church, where she was a member, with the Revs. Brian K. Rummage and Dwight Cartner officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. prior to the service and other times at the home of her daughter. Mrs. Briggs was born July 18, 1928, in Stokes County, to William Manuel George and Becky Jane Tuttle George. She was retired from PPG. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband Joe Briggs Sr.; brothers, Frank George, Rob George, Henry George, Ed George, Hasten George; and sisters, Beulah Reid, Irene Mahala, and Betty Jordan. Surviving are her loving husband, Lloyd Lookabill of the home; sons, Joe Briggs Jr. and wife Penny and Jeffrey Briggs and wife Gwen, all of Lexington; daughter, Shelia Koonts and husband Randy of Lexington; grandchildren, Justin Koonts and wife Alison, Brent Briggs and wife Courtney, Stacey Briggs, and JD Gobble; great-grandchildren, Macy and Sam Koonts, and Cooper and Paisley Briggs; and brother, Eugene George of Lexington.
