Rebecca Coltrane Greening

March 4, 1941 — December 29, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rebecca Coltrane Greening, cherished mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, who left this world peacefully on Sunday, December 29th, 2024, at her home in Lexington, NC. Becky was born on Tuesday, March 4th, 1941, in Virginia to William B. Coltrane Ruth Hill Coltrane, and spent her life dedicated to caring for others both in her personal and professional life.

Becky was a devoted nurse at the Davidson County Health Department in Lexington, NC, where she served with compassion and dedication. Her warm and nurturing spirit touched not only the lives of her patients but also those of her colleagues and friends.

She was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church of Lexington and was very involved in her Sunday school class. Becky's faith was the cornerstone of her life and her legacy of kindness, dedication, and love continues to inspire those she left behind.

She will be forever remembered by her beloved daughters, Laura Myers (Alan) of Maryland and Lisa Lemmings of Winston Salem. Becky also leaves behind her loving sisters, Ann Hurt (J.G.) of Virginia and Bettie Coltrane, of South Carolina, along with her cherished two grandchildren, Mandy Martin and Jonathan Furr, and four great-grandchildren Gage Martin, Chasen Martin, Emma Arnold and Lars Furr who brought immense joy to her life.

Becky was preceded in death by her beloved parents, husband, John Henry Greening, with whom she shared many years of love and companionship and a great-grandson Hayden Martin .

A memorial service to honor her life will be held  2:00 pm Saturday, January 18, 2025, at First United Methodist Church in Lexington.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the United Methodist committee on relief with checks made out to First UMC with UMCOR written on the memo line.

Becky Coltrane Greening's life was a testament to the power of care and compassion, and she will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
