It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rebecca Annette Lackey Kepley, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left this world peacefully on Wednesday, June 18th, 2025, at the age of 85. Rebecca was born on March 19th, 1940, in Greensboro, NC.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raymond Ivey Kepley, her cherished daughter, Robin Annette Kepley, her father Edger Worth Lackey, her mother, Verlie Clarke Anthony, her brother Patrick Lackey, and her sisters Margaret Greer and Barbara Vestal.
She is survived by her beloved children, her son Dean Kepley (Michelle), daughters Tammy Horton and Ginger Owens (Carlton), her brother Charles Lackey (Linda), and sisters Sylvia Morgan and Judy Brindle. She also leaves behind seven treasured grandchildren: Michael, Brandon, Justin, Josh, Leah, J.C., Amanda and seven great-grandchildren: Logan, Kendrick, Layla, Madison, Austin, Gavyn, and Ronnie Jr., all of whom will dearly miss their beloved grandmother.
Rebecca's deep faith as a devoted Christian guided her throughout life. Her love for her flowers and the outdoors, particularly her cherished roses, was admired by all who visited her home. She shared a special bond with her beloved dog, Shadow, who was her faithful companion. Rebecca's greatest joy came from her family, whom she always placed above all else.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a visitation at the Mausoleum Chapel at Forest Hill Memorial Park on Tuesday, June 24th, 2025, from 1-2pm. A funeral service to honor and celebrate Rebecca's life will follow at 2pm with Bishop Charles Lackey officiating, with a committal service to take place immediately afterwards at the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Rebecca's memory to Hinkle Hospice House at 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292, to honor her compassionate spirit and the care she received.
Rebecca Annette Kepley will be remembered for her unwavering dedication to her family, her heartfelt devotion to her faith, and the warmth and love she brought into the lives of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched.
