Rebecca Carolyn Whiteside Leonard, 71, of Tussey Street, died Wednesday, December 30, 2009, at her home following 11 years of declining health.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday, January 4, 2010, at Davidson Funeral Home with Preacher Clyde Akers officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Leonard was born June 11, 1938, in York, S.C., to Asbury Noah Whiteside and Mary Elizabeth Williams. She was a member of Second Reformed Church and a member of Women of the Moose. She was a former employee of Edgewood Apparel. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Connie Wayne Leonard; granddaughter, Sara Hege; and a sister, Frances Yountz.
Surviving are her daughters, Wanda Hege and Carol Everhart and husband, Steve, all of Lexington; six grandchildren, Candi Vandermark and husband, Joe, Marcie Johnson and husband, David, Anna McWilliams and husband, Brendan, Allyson Greeson and husband, Tim, Keri Everhart, Daniel Everhart; four great-grandchildren, Jamie Jester, David Johnson Jr., Joseph Vandermark, and Adam Vandermark; and sisters, Judy Hamlet, Eldred Hilliard, and Beth Younts, all of Lexington.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and other times at the home.
