Rebecca Lucille Poplin Pardue, 84, of Friendship Church Road, died Thursday, May 31, 2012, at Abbotts Creek Care and Rehabilitation Center after a five month illness.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday, June 3, 2012, at Davidson Funeral Home with the Rev. Tommy Hepler officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Hamptonville. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 2, 2012, at the funeral home and other times at the home.
Mrs. Pardue was born April 16, 1928, in Yadkinville, to William Thomas and Eula Cockerham Poplin. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved to cook for her family, clean, sew and was very compassionate for plants and gardening. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Gorrell Columbus; son, Billy; brothers, Clyde, Denver, Grady, Lawrence, Otis and Ivan Poplin; and sisters, Bonnie Pinnix and Berniece Swain.
Surviving are sons, Jerry Pardue and girlfriend, Amy, Johnny Pardue and wife, Amanda, Tommy Pardue and wife, Rita, all of Lexington; daughter-in-law, Debbie of Kentucky; six grandchildren, Angela Prock and boyfriend, Mike, Thomas Pardue, Carl Pardue and wife, Kari, Lacy Burkhart, Chelsea Pardue, and Josh Pardue; seven great-grandchildren, David, Tara, Isabelle Prock, Brandtson Pardue, Nicholas Burkhart, Jade Burkhart, and Montana Pardue.
The family would like to express their dear appreciation to all the staff at Abbotts Creek Care and Rehabilitation Center for the wonderful care and love for Mrs. Rebecca over the last several months.
