Reggie Glenn Smith

April 30, 1946 — November 28, 2025

Lexington

Surrounded by his loving family, Reggie Glenn Smith died peacefully at his home in Southmont, North Carolina, on November 28, 2025, at the age of 79, after several years of courageously battling dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.

Born on April 30, 1946, in Davidson County, Reggie was the only child of the late Orin Glenn Smith and Maxine Reid Smith. He was a devoted family man whose life revolved around those he loved.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 59 years, Delores Kennedy Smith. He is also survived by his children, Scott Smith (Andrea) of Greenville, SC, and Lori (Lance) Scarlett of Rutherfordton, NC; his five grandchildren, Chris Scarlett (Cassie), Samuel Scarlett (Mary), Lily Smith, Eli Scarlett (Hailey), and Clay Smith; and seven great-grandchildren: Rylan, Lincoln, Kashyn, Gwendolyn, Wren, Adeline, and Lily.

Reggie was a graduate of Surry Central High School in Dobson. He dedicated many years of his professional life to Napa Auto Parts and CarQuest Auto Parts, where his friendly demeanor and expertise helped him forge many lifelong friendships. An avid car enthusiast, Reggie possessed a remarkable knack for fixing anything car-related and was a natural tinkerer around the house. He found joy in simple pleasures like watching NASCAR races, cheering on the Atlanta Braves, and visiting the mountains. Above all else, his family was the most important priority in his life.

A testament to his kindness and quiet faith, Reggie was a founding and devoted member of Central Baptist Church, where he humbly served as a deacon for many years. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone, at any time, a true reflection of his love for people and his Lord.

While his absence leaves a painful void and he will be terribly missed, we take comfort in the knowledge that his earthly struggles are over, his heavenly body is healed, and he is finally at peace, suffering no more.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 2, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Central Baptist Church, with a memorial service to follow at 1:00 p.m. Central Baptist Church is located at 1347 Highway 47 East in Lexington, North Carolina. Pastor Jeff Purdue and Reverend Lance Scarlett will officiate the service.

Memorials may be directed to Central Baptist Church, 1347 NC-Hwy 47, Lexington, NC 27292 or Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292.
