John Reid Everhart, 87, of Easter Road, passed away Thursday, July 26, 2012, at Hinkle Hospice House.
His funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Sheets Memorial Baptist Church by the Revs. Frankie Matthews and Ethan Woodward. Entombment will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Reid was born in Davidson County on Dec. 12, 1924, to David Lawrence Everhart and Myrtle Everhart Everhart. He was a retired employee of the N.C. Department of Transportation and a member of Sheets Memorial Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Jackie Bailey; and a brother, James Everhart.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth Young Everhart, of the home; two daughters, Tammy E. Wells and husband David of Lexington and Kelly Benge and husband Mark of Clayton; two grandchildren, Andrew and Savannah Wells; one sister, Anna Snellings of Lexington.
