Rev. Bobby Parker, 68, of Howard Street, died Wednesday, August 18, 2010, at his home.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 21, 2010, at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Luther Spivey, James Messer, Vernon Church officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 20, 2010, at the funeral home and other times at the home of his daughter, on Howard Street.
Mr. Parker was born November 20, 1941, in Buncombe County, to John Parker and Martha Metilda Massey Parker. He was retired from Fletcher Machine and a member of Wayside Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, James William Parker.
Surviving are his wife, Joan Ann White Parker of the home; son, Bobby Alan Parker of Thomasville; daughter, Sarah Joan Hyatt and husband, Marvin, of Thomasville; grandchildren, Nicole Hyatt, Candace Hyatt, Matthew Hyatt, and Felicia Hyatt; two step-grandsons, Jeff Hyatt and Jeremy Hyatt; brothers, Raymond Parker and wife, Jerri, Scott Parker and wife, Sandra, all of Black Mountain; and sisters, Emmaline Ledbetter and husband, Bobby, of Swannanoa; Nancy Spivey and husband, Luther, of Georgia, Janice Quinn and husband, Chester and Deborah Melton and husband, Doug, both of Black Mountain.
The family would like to thank Branson Allred and the staff at Liberty Hospice for all the kindness shown to the family during this time.
