Rev. Clifford Ray Sutton, age 67 of Hardwood Lane, Lexington passed away Wednesday morning (January 28, 2015) at Forsyth Medical Center.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday (January 31, 2015) at Silver Valley Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Greer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Friday night and at other times at the home of Penny and Stan Everhart, 2230 City Lake Road, Lexington, NC.
Clifford was born September 21, 1947 in McCracken County, KY to Willie Lee and Betty Jean Bryant Sutton. He was a truck driver for 30 years and served as a Baptist minister at the following churches, Silver Valley Baptist, Lighthouse Baptist, Oak Grove Baptist, Melber Baptist in Kentucky and Mt. Zion Baptist and attended St. Andrews Church in Lexington. He served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam era. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Thomas Lee Sutton in 2013 and a brother, Gary Wayne Sutton.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Barbara Craven Sutton of the home; daughters, Penny Sutton Everhart (Stan), Kristie Sutton Goins (Darrell) and Tracy Sutton Kilpatrick (David) all of Lexington; grandchildren, Spencer Everhart, Amanda and Cliff Sutton, Katie and Jacob Hollingsworth, Sarah and Jonathan Kilpatrick; great-granddaughter, McKenzie Yarbrough; sister, Emma Jean Lewis of Melvindale, MI; brother, Steve Michael Sutton of Cherry Point, NC; daughter-in-law, Emma Hamrick Sutton of Lexington.
