Rev. Clyde Ernest Parker

Rev. Clyde Ernest Parker, 85 of 159 Koontz Ave., Welcome, died Saturday morning at Mallard Ridge Assisted Center. Rev. Parker was born March 6, 1921 in Iredell County to Robert Ernest Parker and Lula Christy Parker. He was the former pastor of Sonlight Baptist Church; a Gideon, and was very active in jail ministries. He was retired from Roadway Express where he worked as a mechanic. Rev. Parker was a veteran of the US Army Air Corp having served in WWII. He was preceded in death by his wife Faye Collins Parker, a son Randall Dean Parker, eight brother and two sisters. Surviving are sons Homer Parker and wife Donnie, Clyde Rodney Parker and wife Judy both of Reedy Creek. Daughter Janet Lane Parker Winters of Rural Hall, grandchildren Ginny Parker, David Jarvis, Danielle Parker and Michael Hinkle and four great-grandchildren. A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday at Center United Methodist Church Cemetery, conducted by Rev. Tommy Hepler. Burial will follow in the Center United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday evening at Davidson Funeral Home- Hickory Tree Chapel and at other times at the home of his son Rodney at 2331 Reedy Creek Road. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Davidson County, PO Box 1941, Lexington, NC 27293.
