Rev. John Hardy Huggins Sr.

Rev. John Hardy Huggins, Sr., 79 of Walnut Grove Rd., Linwood died Monday October 2, 2006 at his home after an illness of 3 weeks. Rev. Huggins was born in Marlboro County, SC on August 14, 1927 to John J. Huggins and Carrie Wilkes Huggins. He was a retired minister and also retired from Young Hinkle Furniture after 25 years of service and most recently as a security guard with Weiser Security Company. He attended Welcome Church of God. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Marvin Huggins. Surviving are his wife Lena Twiddy Huggins to who he was married to for 58 years of the home; a son John H. Huggins, Jr. and wife Janet of Linwood; daughters Leona Owens and husband Samuel Floyd of Lexington and LaVonne Polson and husband Charles of Linwood; grandchildren Sheryl Weaver, Beverly Owens, Chris Polson, Lynn Polson, Heather Huggins, Amber Cassada, and Heather Cassada; great grandchildren Hayley Huggins; Ariana Weaver; Jordan Hollingsworth; Paige Polson; and a sister Mamie Butler of Bennettsville, SC. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday at Welcome Church of God. The service will be conducted by Rev. Michael Woolard and Rev. Tommy Cashatt. Burial will follow in the Original Church of God Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Wednesday at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington and at other times at the home. Memorials may be directed to the Special Olympics of Davidson County, PO Box 1067, Lexington, NC 27293.
