Rev. Vernon M Church

Rev. Vernon McCoy Church, 81, of Greensboro St. Ext., Lexington died Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Hinkle Hospice House. A funeral will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. Henry King and Avery Varnador officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at the funeral home and other times at the home. Rev. Church was born April 7, 1931 in Wilkes County to Everett Commadors Church and Leona Miller Church. He was employed with Apac Carolina for 38 years and was a Minister for 52 years, in which 28 years was pastor at Mt. Pleasant Freewill Baptist Church. After retirement he attended Bright Light Freewill Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Kathleen Everhart Church of the home; a son, Donald Church and wife, Becky of Lexington; two daughters, Cathey Pritchett and husband, Gary of Thomasville, Amy Redmon and husband, Paul of Lexington; 12 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; two sisters, Daphne Byrd and husband, Dewey of Lexington and Dorothy Tickle and husband, Junior of Virginia.
