Rev. William "Bill" Childs

Rev. William Travis (Bill) Childs, Jr. age 79 of Archie Lane, Lexington passed away Sunday (April 18, 2010 at Alston Brook of Lexington. A memorial service will be held 4:00 pm Saturday April 24 2010 at First Alliance Church by Rev. Paul Titus. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the church.   Rev. Childs was born April 17, 1931 in Bay County Florida to William Travis Childs Sr. and Grace Mildred Radney Childs. He was a 1952 graduate of University of Florida, and also a graduate of Tennessee Temple College in 1955. Rev. Childs served as Minister at The Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Homer Allen Childs.    Surviving are his wife, Virginia Lucille Walters Childs of the home; four sons, William Travis Childs III, of Black Mountain North Carolina, John David Childs, of Fruitland Park Florida, Stephen Mark Childs, of Williamsburg Virginia, Timothy Phillip Childs, of Lexington, and Robert Peter Childs of Williamsburg Virginia; one daughter, Grace Ann Childs Ward, and husband Stuart, of Lexington; 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.    The family will receive friends at other times at the home on Archie Lane.   In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Alliance Church Building Fund 424 E. 9th Street Lexington NC 27292.            Online condolences may be made at www.davidsonfuneralhome.net
