Rex Elmer (Buck) Roberson 79, of West Center St. Ext, Lexington died Tuesday, February 26, 2008 in Lexington Memorial Hospital. After declining health of one year.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, February 28, 2008 at Paul’s Chapel United Church of Christ, where he was a charter member, with Rev. Dr. David Ambroso and Rev. Jimmy Norred officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Roberson was born October 12, 1928 in Davidson County to Roy Elmer Roberson and Edna Koontz Roberson. He was retired from Western Electric (Lucent Tech) with 33 years of service. At Paul’s Chapel he was a consistory member several times and currently serving on the consistory board. He was President of the Open Door Sunday School Class. A charter member of the West Lexington Lions Club and was the first president of that club, and was still a current member and a charter member of the West Lexington Fire Dept. Mr. Roberson was the first board member with Davidson Water, Inc. He was a graduate of Welcome High School and High Point University. Preceding him in death were his parents, and a daughter, Vickie Jean Moody
Surviving are his wife, Betty Essick Roberson of the home; a daughter, Patricia Wilson of Lexington; a son-in-law, Willard Moody of Lexington; a grandson, Adam Lee Wilson of Lexington and a sister, Peggy Snider and husband Paul of Lexington; sister-in-law, Carolyn Essick of Lexington
The family will receive friends and family from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at DAVIDSON FUNERAL HOME and other times at the home.
