Richard “Buddy” Swicegood, age 68, of Swicegood Road, Linwood passed away Saturday evening at Hinkle Hospice House after an extended illness.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, November 11, 2014, at Tyro United Methodist Church with the Rev. Randy Foster officiating and a nephew, Ricky Hendrix assisting. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery on Highway 150 in Lexington, NC.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Monday, November 10, 2014 at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington, and other times at the home.
Mr. Swicegood was born November 1, 1946, in Davidson County, to Lee Carl Swicegood and Mary Wofford Swicegood. He worked as a truck driver for Billings Freight Systems beginning at the age of 16, and later retired after 34 years of employment. He enjoyed watching Nascar races, riding motorcycles when he was able, and had a deep love for animals. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Surviving are his wife of 20 years, Frances Moorefield Swicegood of the home; a daughter, Deborah Kathleen Swicegood of Lexington, NC; a stepson Harvey Brooks Jr. and wife Ashley of Thomasville, NC; a sister, Judith Swicegood Shook and husband Jerry of Lexington, NC; and two grandsons, Chase and Ayden Brooks, both of Thomasville, NC.
