Richard Donald Link

Richard Donald Link, age 84, of Arcadia, passed away at Forsyth Memorial Hospital on March 7, 2024.

Richard was born on October 20, 1939, in Davidson County to the late Robert Lee Link Sr. and Myrtle Byerly Link.  He retired from his business at North Davidson Salvage in Welcome, North Carolina in 2018.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his stepmother, Stella Link; three brothers, Reid Link, Robert Link, Jr., and Bobby Link, his three sisters, Dorothy Huffman, Thelma Reid, Lynn Link and his daughter-in-law Misty Willard Link.

Surviving is his wife, Peggy Berrier Link, his son, Richard Craig Link of Arcadia, and two brothers Wayne Link and Monty Link (Bonnie) all of Arcadia.

Richard never knew a stranger in his life and was completely uninhibited from picking, laughing, and saying some crazy things to folks he had never even met.  Everyone in his life was accepted as a friend and an equal no matter their walk of life.  He enjoyed working long hard days in his salvage business and even after retirement he spent countless hours working in his buildings full of merchandise that remained, and he considered it his entertainment.

During the time at his store, many neighborhood kids would come by and hang out and he would make sure they left with something they wanted or needed for free.  He was always willing to give to someone who needed help.  Many times, he would buy an item from a person and when asked about the item his answer was always the same “Well, I really didn’t want it, but they looked like they needed the money.”

Richard never cared to “dress up” for anything, and he never would expect anyone else to do that either so if you attend his service, please come in comfortable casual.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Davidson Funeral Home Hickory Tree Chapel with Reverend Brad Bennett officiating.  No formal visitation is scheduled.
